SWISS BOAT BUILDING IN PERFECTION

Handcrafted in Switzerland since 1920

Swiss boat building at its finest

The history of the Boesch boatyard dates back to 1860, when it was originally owned by another family. Jakob Boesch (1869-1956), a carpenter from eastern Switzerland, transitioned to boatbuilding and moved to Zurich, where he joined the yard in 1895. He quickly rose to the position of foreworker. When the former owners went bankrupt in 1918, he was left as the sole employee. The company’s direct neighbours on Lake Zurich, Lindt & Sprüngli, provided financial support to help restart the business, ensuring their boats remained well cared for. Since October 1, 1920, the yard has remained in the Boesch family for four generations.

A Legacy of Excellence

Jakob Boesch laid the foundation, but it was his son, Walter Boesch, who propelled the company into the modern era. In the 1940s, Walter’s focus on fast motorboats led to the development of the iconic Horizon-Gliding model. This innovation became legendary, setting a benchmark for performance and design.

The 1960s marked a period of rapid growth, with the company increasing production and exporting nearly two-thirds of its boats. This success established Boesch as a global leader in luxury boat manufacturing. Today, Markus Boesch, a fourth-generation family member, continues to uphold the company’s commitment to quality, tradition, and innovation.

A History Rooted in Innovation

Boesch’s journey is one of continuous innovation and dedication to excellence. From its beginnings in traditional sailboat repairs to its current status as a symbol of luxury and performance, Boesch has consistently pushed the boundaries of boat design. The company’s ethos combines traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering, creating boats that are as functional as they are beautiful.

Commitment to Quality Materials

Boesch’s commitment to craftsmanship begins with its materials. The company meticulously prepares woods like mahogany, teak, and pine, a process that can take up to a decade. This dedication ensures the durability and elegance of every boat. Boesch also employs advanced cold-molded processes using specially sourced plywood from West Africa, resulting in a robust yet refined finish that is rare in modern manufacturing.

Cutting-Edge Models

Boesch offers a range of models, each blending timeless design with modern performance:

• B.710 Sunsport

• B.860 Monaco Deluxe

• B.970 St Tropez

• B.710 Costa Brava de Luxe

• B.625 Sunski

• B.620 Bimini de Luxe

• B.620 Acapulco Sport

• B.750 Portofino de Luxe

Each model exemplifies the brand’s dedication to elegance, performance, and innovation.

Performance-Driven Design

At the heart of every Boesch boat is the powerful and reliable Ilmor MV8 5.7L engine, certified by the American Water Ski Association. While Ilmor OPS engines are not available for the 620/625 and 750 series, most tenders require diesel engines, and Boesch relies on Yanmar for these applications.
